MAALS Sligo

A one of a kind polished brass chronograph diver  

Our third one-off commissioned piece, this time created for a fan of MAALS over in the US. After seeing our first commission piece Dreamchaser, he decided he wanted to design is own green watch but with a difference - he wanted to create something in a completely polished brass case. What we came up with was a 44mm chronograph diver named after the northern Irish town his grandfather was from and is also the name of his fishing/diving charter company.

We took a measured approach with the dial design, opting to create a minimalistic look and feel with a focus on readability and contrast between the dial colour and the white lume layer. Keeping things subtle we integrated our logo at the 4 position.

Bringing a bit of vintage stye to the dial are the brushed stainless steel lancet style hands, for both the main and sub dials contrasted with the orange sweeping seconds hand of the chronograph.

The big stand out for Sligo though is its polished brass case. Nowadays brass is not a commonly used material in watchmaking, so working with closely our OEM and manufacturers we designed a completely unique mould and process specifically for this piece. Once cast in brass the whole case and the caseback are plated 2N polished gold.
